On Friday April 3 at 2:45 pm there were so many sirens and police about a half block away from our house. The day before I had seen a very long police escorted caravan of dark cars and I was curious which important person might be in town. I decided to walk half the block to the police and ask them. To my horror there were ambulances, yellow tape and police everywhere. They said that someone discovered a dead body; a sudden death.
The whole city is shocked by the news and every eight hours or so the media reveals more information about the murder. A woman went for an afternoon jog and was killed and we still don’t know how and why. The RCMP and the media are surrounding our house. I really feel like I’m living in a horror movie right now. The large Crime Scene Investigation Unit arrived and police dogs. All traffic is blocked off and in a very sad and ironic way it is very peaceful here. The University Endowment Lands consist of 750 hectors of land and the police are doing a thorough grid search right now. My heart goes out to the woman and her family.
